Collection of vedute

Among the vast collections in the Department of Graphic Art of the Province of Upper Austria, part of the OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH, the historical Upper Austrian vedute play a prominent role.

The collection currently comprises around 6,000 works on paper and is of particular importance in terms of art and cultural history. It contains drawings, watercolors, and prints that depict landscapes, settlements, castles, churches, and other buildings in Upper Austria. There are pictures of almost all Upper Austrian towns and places. The historically and topographically informative pictorial material forms the basis for investigations into the history of architecture and art, but is also often requested for use in exhibitions and book illustrations.
